Two seemingly incompatible worlds – traditional Greek dance and contemporary movement – “meet” at the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus. The internationally acclaimed choreographer Russell Maliphant deconstructs the kinesiology of traditional dances and sheds light on the similarities shared with contemporary dance expression. The performance of “The Thread”, conceived by Georgia Iliopoulou, managing director of the cultural organisation Lavris, is based on Ariadne’s Thread, a thread which leads to a new perspective on the relationship between past and present. The original score music is composed by Vangelis Papathanasiou and the costumes designed by Mary Katrantzou. (24/08, thethread.eu)
